Getting started with Level 3 Mathematical Studies

Before you start, please make sure you are familiar with Level 3 Mathematics specification.

Level 3 Mathematical Studies is a qualification designed for students who have achieved a grade 4 or above at GCSE.

It can support the teaching of other A-level subjects and we've created a comparison of content within subjects resource to help you work with your colleagues in other departments as well as a bank of questions which assess some of this content.

Preliminary material for the exams will be available on Centre Services from 1 March each year.

Planning resources

Our Maths handy links provide all our resources in one place. The planning resources can be found in the links below.

Customisable route maps

Plan your teaching of the course with our interactive, customisable route maps. These contain links to supporting resources such as lesson plans, activities, worksheets and homework sheets for Foundation tier and Higher tier.

Route maps are available for teaching both tiers over two or three years, as well as a one-year route map specifically tailored for resit students.

You’re now able to recreate your route maps in our new All About Maths platform. We’ve updated how they look, and we’re continuing to make improvements with more features to come.

Mock exam analysers

We provide mock exam analysers to help you evaluate students' performance in mock exams.

The mock exam analysers allow your students to:

analyse their grade and how far off their target grade they were
compare their performance on each question with the students who took the live examination, using real data from the exam
see how they performed on the test and identify topic areas where they are strong or weak
see the mark scheme and a model answer for each question.
