FICTION: GOTHIC FICTION

In successfully completing this unit, the learner will have	Evidence needed
experienced 1. engaging, with support, with story extracts in different formats, focusing on ghost stories, eg Casper the Friendly Ghost, Dracula, Frankenstein	Summary sheet
demonstrated the ability to 2. recognise at least two gothic fiction characters and choose appropriate dress up clothes to role play as those characters	Summary sheet and/or photograph(s)
3. develop a setting for a gothic story through construction of a diorama	Summary sheet and/or photograph(s)
4. make meaningful marks related to a gothic fiction story, eg gravestone writing, wanted posters, witch recipes	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
5. follow recipes for making Gothic themed foods, with support	Summary sheet
6. begin to successfully make selections based on a book's front cover, in response to gvien questions, eg "Can you find a witch story?" "Can you find a vampire story?"	Summary sheet
7. identify at least two Gothic-themed items found in sensory stories, eg by discrimination between Gothic and non-Gothic images or symbols.	Summary sheet and/or student completed work
