Providing evidence for moderation
Information and resources for exams officers to plan ahead and stay on track throughout the whole exams lifecycle, from entries to results day.

For most components
Details of the candidates to include in the sample can be found on the View Sample screen in Centre Services > Centre marks submission.
GCSE and A-level Art and Design (8201-6, 7201-6)
For each title, the View Sample screen will only be available once the marks for both components (codes /C and /X) have been submitted.
GCSE and A-level PE (8582/C, 7582/C)
Your allocated moderator will notify you by email of the candidates and activities in the sample.
Schools select their own sample for the following components and upload recordings of their presentations through Centre Marks Submission. Click through to see the requirements for each:
Sample size and range
The maximum sample size is 30, with a minimum of 10 students at each of the following grades: Distinction (D), Merit (M) and Pass (P). Don’t include Not Classified (NC) or Carry Forward students.
Where more than one teacher/assessor has been involved in marking the work, the sample must cover a range of assessors.
30 students or fewer
If you have 30 students or fewer (excluding Not Classified and Carry Forward) you should submit all of your students’ presentations.
For example, if you submit a total of 28 grades made up of 13 Distinction, 12 Merit and 3 Pass grades, you would include all of these grades in your sample for moderation.
Fewer than 10 students at Distinction, Merit or Pass grade
If you have fewer than 10 students with a Distinction, Merit, or Pass grade, submit all the recordings you have at that particular grade. Include additional recordings at a different grade to make the total sample up to 30 students.
Examples
Parental interest
This status is used to indicate that a candidate’s work has been assessed by a teacher/assessor who has a personal interest in the candidate. If you've assigned any of your candidates a 'parental interest' status on Centre Marks Submission, then you must send their work in addition to the sample above.
If you need an exemption from submitting audio-video recordings (e.g. candidates unable to be recorded on religious grounds or protected characteristics) please contact moderation@aqa.org.uk with a detailed explanation as soon as possible.
Submit your learners' samples within three working days of the submission deadline.
